Discover the tibialis posterior muscle’s origin, insertion, action and innervation, and its role in foot inversion and plantarflexion.. The muscle is primarily responsible for plantar flexion and inversion of the foot and receives its arterial blood supply and innervation from the posterior tibial artery and tibial nerve, respectively.

Muscle Anatomy Of The Tibialis Posterior
Origin Of Tibialis Posterior M
The tibialis posterior muscle is located in the deep posterior compartment of the leg. It originates from the posterior surfaces of the tibia and fibula, as well as the interosseous membrane.. It is the deepest muscle in the posterior lower leg, playing a vital role in stabilizing the leg and the foot, while also helping with flexion and inversion of the foot. The tibialis posterior muscle has a fleshy belly with a broad origin from both the tibia and fibula.
